I’ve been offering Mommy & Me Mini Sessions in Newburgh, Indiana for over a decade now. In honor of Mother’s Day, I wanted to spotlight some of the incredible mothers I had the opportunity to work with this year. They are all such amazing mamas and I wanted to share their advice and insight into motherhood. Over the next 10 days I will be sharing a couple mothers, their images and their advice, every day on socials and the blog. My hope is that new and existing moms can either gather advice or feel a little less alone in this crazy thing called motherhood.
ASHLEY

How many children do you have and what are their ages?
3 children – ages 5, 3, and 1
What is the best part of motherhood?
Just the simple joy of watching your children become themselves, demonstrating things we’ve taught them, and seeing them be proud of who they are.
What is the hardest part about being a mother?
Seeing your child hurt or in pain and feeling helpless when you can’t take it their pain away.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received about parenting?
Being present with your children is the best gift you can give them.
If you could give a new mother one piece of advice, what would it be?
Enjoy every single day, even the hard ones!
ALEXA

How many children do you have and what are their ages?
2 children – Parker – 2 years, Sunny – 1 year
What is the best part of motherhood?
Getting a front row seat at my children experiencing new things! There is nothing like it. Getting the chance to shape, teach and lead them into being good respectful people!
What is the hardest part about being a mother?
The mental gymnastics! You’re not just doing things. You’re remembering, planning, anticipating, and managing everything (meals, appointments, clothes, emotions, schedules). The invisible workload of a mother never shuts off.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received about parenting?
You’re allowed to not love every moment. You can love your kids deeply and still find parts of motherhood boring, frustrating, or overwhelming. That’s normal!
If you could give a new mother one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don’t compare your life to other moms. What you see, especially online, can be heavily filtered. Your home, your kids and your routine don’t need to look like everyone else’s to be healthy.
