I’ve had the joy of photographing lots of amazing stories over the past seven years. I’ve photographed hundreds of babies in their first weeks of life, celebrated first birthdays, helped to announce pregnancies and even captured the births of a couple of beautiful babies. A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to help announce something new. I was so excited to be a part of this announcement because I know this family and they are doing something so selfless and amazing and I was excited to help them tell their story.
Brittany contacted me several weeks before the shoot and told me they wanted to book a session. They have two beautiful twin daughters and they had an announcement they wanted to make. She said that they wanted to announce they were pregnant again … BUT … the baby wasn’t theirs. Brittany explained that she was a surrogate for a sweet family and would be carrying their precious baby for them.
This to me is one incredible sacrifice. I personally found pregnancy to be extremely difficult. I was sick and uncomfortable for most of my four pregnancies. I LOVED the end result and I loved knowing I was creating new life, but the pregnancy part was pretty rough. So for me to see Brittany so graciously carrying a child for someone else, it is just incredible. I am so amazed and inspired by the sacrifice she is making. She is giving the most precious and priceless gift to this family.
